Big busses available on the roads of Kigali decrease the problem of long lines of people waiting to board busses and also make it possible for large numbers of passengers to be transported in one safe bus.

You will find a big number of motorists on every part of Kigali City who are available 24 hours a day. It is easier to take a motorbike than wait for a bus, especially in places where busses and cars cannot pass. Also, motorists help passengers to get to their destinations safely and on time, just in case they´re not familiar with the roads or if they´re lost. They tend to know every road in the city quite well. The prices are not fixed and are negotiable. All people conducting the motorist or ´moto´ business are required to have a vest and two helmets, one for themselves and another one for the passenger.

Bicycles in Kigali also play a role in transportation: when you do not have enough money for taking a motorcycle, you can hire a bicycle-taxi, like this man does here in Kicukiro. They bring you to the main road where you can change to busses or walk the rest of the way. The prices or bicycle-taxis are not fixed, you always negotiate. People who conduct this transportation business are mostly the youth, which is good because it enables them to earn a living.

But bicycle-taxis are usually made to look more attractive by decorating them. For instance this picture in Kicukiro shows the bicycle having a variety of decorations. The vest that the bicyclist is wearing shows that he belongs to a cooperative.
